Alan N. Kohn, M.D., FACS. ophthalmic surgeon, continues to participate on medical missions to various Third World
countries, lecturing and performing sight-restoring surgery for the needy.
Dr. Kohn
has twice volunteered on medical missions to Bolivia, South America with a surgical team from Con-El, a Catholic service charity. There he performed numerous surgeries for the natives of Cochabamba, Bolivia. He performed the first corneal transplant by the Con-El team, using corneas provided at no cost by the Tampa Florida Eye Bank, to restore sight to an 18 year old man who had been born blind. He and other Bolivian patients were extremely grateful.
